Working Groups and Ad hoc Task Forces/Committees

Currently, there are two working groups established by the Assembly: the Institutional Working Group (INS WG) and the Technical Regulation Working Group (TECH WG). They collect and review information and also carry out research and analysis when seen as necessary following the inputs of the Assembly. They are headed by a Chair and/or Co-Chair. Each working group has the power to decide autonomously on its internal organisational structure and its annual work programme and activities, within the framework of WAREG annual Action Plan. The work programmes shall be presented to the Assembly for endorsement.

Ad hoc task forces/committees may be established by the working groups or by the Assembly for specific topics and for a specified term.  A Chair shall be appointed for each Ad hoc task force/committee.

In the 6th Assembly meeting (Bucharest, 16 December 2015), Members expressed interest in further elaborating the information collected through questionnaires and country profiles in the first half of 2015. On that occasion, the WAREG President presented the main remarks shared within the two Working Groups (WG Institutional and WG Technical-Regulatory) about possible topics that might be investigated further. Additionally the WGs were mandated by the Assembly to identify specific topics of interest to be analysed during 2016.

Consequently the WGs held a meeting (Bucharest, 17 December 2015) and decided to create two ad hoc Task Forces made up of any Members willing to join. These were dedicated to elaborate options for work on the following two topics:

1. Affordability

2. Key Performance Indicators and Benchmarking

The WGs also suggested that each of the two Task Forces organise themselves autonomously and submit proposals for the consideration of the Assembly. Following the indications by Assembly and WGs Members in Bucharest, WAREG Secretariat coordinated the creation of the two Task Forces and the drafting of proposals and next steps. The resulting Task Forces were:

TF - Affordability
Current participants are: Belgium/Flanders (VMM), France (MEDDE), Greece (SWW), Italy (AEEGSI), Romania (ANRSC), Spain (MAGRAMA). Other Members may wish to join as active participants or observers. At the 7th WAREG Assembly meeting, following proposals of the TF, it was decided that an investigation on the main aspects of the concept of "affordability" in use in WAREG Members would be carried out. The main documents of TF activities are available for Members.

TF - KPIs & Benchmarking
Current participants are: Bulgaria (EWRC), Denmark (KFST), Estonia (ECA), Ireland (CER), Latvia (PUC), Malta (REWS), Portugal (ERSAR). Other Members may wish to join as active participants or observers. At the 7th WAREG Assembly meeting, following proposals of the TF, it was decided that an investigation of a selection of KPIs in use by WAREG Members and in international databases would be carried out around the concept of "water efficiency". The main documents of TF activities are available for Members.
